This session will describe a variety of positive guidance strategies that can be routinely used to guide child behavior in preschool classrooms. The session will address both preventing challenging behaviors and supporting young children’s social-emotional development. Strategies to prevent challenging behaviors include giving positive directions, facilitating engagement, and planning successful transitions. In addition, participants will explore ways to teach children to recognize and express emotions and problem-solve. All resources shared are free and can be implemented into a play-based curriculum.
